Chapter V-A and V-B of the ID Act are not applicable to the units in the SEZs. A New Chapter V-D inserted in ID Act, for the benefit of units in SEZs.

A new chapter inserted into ID Act, Chapter V-D, allows the employer to terminate the employees who are in continuous service for more than one year subject to condition that the workman shall be paid compensation equivalent to forty-five days’ salary for every completed year of continuous
service. (Section 25ZA)of the new chapter V-D in ID Act.

Powers, duties and functions of Labor Commissioner under various Labor Laws conferred on Development Commissioner of SEZ (Section-17 of the SEZ Act).

Entrepreneur allowed to submit one single return under various labor Laws. (Section 19 of the SEZ Act).

Changes made in the following Acts.(Section 18 and Schedule II of the Act).

2. The Bombay Industrial Relations Act,1946,
3. The Industrial Disputes Act,1947,
4. The Contract Labour Act,1970,

FACILITIES AND FISCAL BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO THE DEVELOPER AND UNITS IN SEZs OF GUJARAT

Exemption from all State taxes, fees cess etc(section 21 of the SEZ Act)

Exemption from Stamp Duty and Registration Fee (section 21).

Exemption from Electricity Duty for 10 years from the date of production or rendering services.(section 15)

Single Window Mechanism for various approvals under various State Laws((section 10 and SEZ Rules)

Flexibility to the developer to set up infrastructural facilities and to collect service /user charges in accordance with the provisions of the SEZ Act(section 14,15,16 of the Act)

Development Committee under the Chairmanship of Developer for carrying out development works and works related to social infrastructure(section 12&13 )

SEZ area as Industrial Township under the proviso to clause(1)of article 243Q of the Constitution(section-11)

Constitution of High Level Authority for consideration of applications for setting up of Zones under chairmanship of Chief Secretary.(section 6
)

Authority to monitor promotion development and functioning of the Zones. (section 6)
